El jueves 21 de julio a las 12:30pm, se inauguró oficialmente la intervención fotográfica “Los indeseables. Cartografía del deseo” de Kay Zevallos, artista peruana residente en Francia bajo la curaduría de Christian Bendayán. Contando con el respaldo público de la Dirección Desconcentrada de Cultura de Loreto en una serie de actividades como: la gestión para la búsqueda de espacios expositivos, diseño de la invitación en el cual insertaron su logotipo, en el envío de comunicación a la prensa, la difusión de la exposición en sus redes oficiales; la intervención fotográfica se realizó en los muros exteriores del restaurante Las Terrazas ubicado en el Malecón Tarapacá con Napo. Las palabras inaugurales de la exposición las dio la señora María Isabel Pérez en representación de la DDC de Loreto.

A 7 horas de ser inaugurada la exposición fotográfica, se presentaron en el lugar miembros de la Fiscalía de prevención del delito de Loreto, el señor Samuel Eduardo Reyna Guzmán, el SB. PNP Percy Vidales Ruiz de la comisaría de Turismo de Iquitos, agentes de la policía nacional, así como agentes del serenazgo de la Municipalidad provincial de Maynas con patrullas y autos indicando que fueron hacia el lugar para constatar que la exposición no contaba con la autorización ni respaldo de la Dirección Desconcentrada de Cultura de Loreto. Nunca dieron más información, ni mostraron algún documento para indicar el motivo de la acción.

El agente de fiscalía juntamente con el SB oficial de la comisaría de Turismo de Iquitos indicó que director de la DDC de Loreto el señor Isaac Núñez Pérez negó en el acta fiscal que la exposición fotográfica contaba con su autorización. Ante esta intimidación y al repetir reiteradas veces que no se cuenta con ninguna autorización, el dueño del local envió inmediatamente a sus trabajadores a retirar las fotografías y el texto curatorial, causando un daño económico a una exposición autofinanciada, y un daño moral a los involucrados.

Esta intervención representa la contradicción, el abandono y la negación que el director de la DDC de Loreto, Isaac Núñez Pérez, demostró luego de respaldar la exposición, con el otorgamiento del logo de su entidad, la difusión previa en sus redes, nota de prensa y publicaciones de la inauguración en el diario La región en el cual se puede ver observar el respaldo de la DDC de Loreto con la presencia de uno de sus representantes. Adjuntamos algunas imágenes que muestran cómo los trabajadores de la DDC de Loreto retiran el logo de la DDC, contradiciendo el inicial respaldo de esta institución a la exposición.  También solicitamos se informe sobre el motivo de la constatación y la presencia de la Fiscalía de prevención del delito de Loreto, de la comisaría de Turismo de Iquitos, agentes de la policía nacional, así como agentes del serenazgo de la Municipalidad provincial de Maynas ante una exposición que visibiliza a la comunidad LGTBIQ y a los artistas Drag amazónicos, pues esta acción evidencia una intención de mantenerlos nuevamente en la clandestinidad y marginalidad de la ciudad.

Ante ello, resaltamos que el ministro de cultura, Alejandro Salas, debería manifestarse ante esta censura del arte en su mayor y diversa expresión. Acontecimientos como este, demuestran claramente la negación de la diversidad sexual y de identidades que existe actualmente. Somos libres de expresarnos y amar libremente, si instituciones del gobierno inician la censura de la libertad y no reconocen los derechos de las personas, no dudemos que acciones como estas motiven la discriminación, violencia y crímenes de odio. No permitamos que los esfuerzos por la libertad y la igualdad se vean minimizados.

On Thursday, July 21 at 12:30pm, the photographic intervention «Los indeseables. Cartography of Desire» by Kay Zevallos, Peruvian artist living in France, was inaugurated under the curatorship of Christian Bendayán. Relying on the public support of the Peruvian Minister of Culture's Descentralized Office in Loreto ( DDC Loreto - Spanish acronyms) in a series of activities such as: the management for the search of spaces, the design of the invitation in which they inserted their logo, the sending of communication to the press, the diffusion of the exhibition in their official networks; the photographic intervention was realized on the exterior walls of the restaurant Las Terrazas, located in the Malecón Tarapacá with Napo. The inaugural words of the exhibition were given by Mrs. Maria Isabel Perez on behalf of the DDC Loreto.
 
Seven hours after the inauguration of the photographic exhibition, members of the Loreto Crime Prevention Prosecutor’s Office, Mr. Samuel Eduardo Reyna Guzman, SB. PNP Percy Vidales Ruiz of the Tourism Police Station of Iquitos, agents of the national police, as well as agents of the serenazgo of the provisional Municipality of Maynas arrived at the location with patrol cars, indicating that they came to verify that the exhibition did not have the authorization or support of the DDC Loreto. They never gave more information, nor did they show any document to indicate the reason for the action.
 
The prosecutor’s agent together with the official SB of the Iquitos Tourism Police indicated that the director of the DDC Loreto, Mr. Isaac Núñez Pérez, denied in the prosecutor’s act that the photographic exhibition had his authorization. Faced with this intimidation and by repeating that there was no authorization, the owner of the restaurant immediately sent his workers to remove the photographs and the curatorial text, causing economic damage to a self-financed exhibition, and a moral and artistic damage for those involved.
 
This intervention reveals the contradiction, the abandonment and denial that the director of the DDC Loreto, Isaac Núñez Pérez, demonstrated after initially supporting the exhibition, allowing the presence of the logo of his entity, the previous diffusion in his networks, press release and publications of the inauguration in the newspaper La Región, in which you can observe the support of the DDC of Loreto with the presence of one of its representatives. We attach some images that show how the workers of the DDC of Loreto remove the logo of the DDC, contradicting the initial support of this institution to the exhibition. We also request the reason for the verification and the presence of the Prosecutor’s Office of Crime Prevention of Loreto, the Tourism Police of Iquitos, agents of the National Police as well as agents of the serenazgo of the provisional Municipality of Maynas at an exhibition that gives visibility to  the LGTB community and the Amazonian Drag artists, since this action blatantly manifests the intention of leaving them again in the clandestinity and marginality of the city.
 
In view of this, we emphasize that the Minister of Culture, Alejandro Salas, should manifest himself before this censorship of artistic expression. Events like this clearly demonstrate the denial of sexual diversity that exists today. We are free to express ourselves and love freely. If the government initiates censorship of freedom and does not recognize the rights of the individuals, there is no doubt that these actions will motivate hate crimes. We cannot allow the efforts for freedom and equality to be minimized.
