"Soft" Sentences for Qld Child Abusers and Murders Placing Children at Greater Risk

Apparently Justice For Hemi, Jakob's Voice, Act For Mason and 8000 other signatories of this petition have other supporters of the same belief that "soft" sentencing for child abusers is placing other little people at risk! We fail to see how so many can think alike yet the Minister for Justice continues to ignore so many as well as actually seeming to support a 4 year non-parole period for little Hemi's killing after around 10 hours of horrific torture. Hetty Johnston (Bravehearts) states, “We can’t continue to tinker at the edges of what is a totally broken system.” ... Bond University criminologist Terry Goldsworthy said the state had a responsibility to defend young victims through appropriate sentencing. “I think we need to stop going for the soft cop-out and just accept it for what it is — it’s a homicide, murder or manslaughter of someone who’s completely defenceless,” he said. “To me, part of the issue about victims — and young victims — is they can’t speak for themselves. So it’s up to the state to do that for them and do that through appropriate sentences. We’re talking about killing children.” ... " Doesn't seem many people agree with the Minister for Justice's office in the case of Qld's sentences for child murderers and abusers being "appropriate"!
