DROP THE CHARGES FOR JA'MAL GREEN

DROP THE CHARGES FOR JA'MAL GREEN
The Issue
Activist Ja'Mal Green was arrested by Chicago Police Saturday, July 9th at the taste of Chicago protest. Ja'Mal was the organizer of this peaceful protest and negotiated with police along the way to ensure everyone was going home safely. But things turned for the worse as Chicago Police looked to jail Green in an attempt to silence protesters.
In one instance, Commander Devereax of the CPD yanked Ja'Mal Green off of the rail as Ja'Mal was yelling orders to a large crowd and calm them down. This could have potentially injured Green and all of the officers close to the situation AGREED that the Commander was wrong for what he did. After this happened, It became a struggle ensued as seen on the new "Chicago Reader" video but the Chicago Tribune snapped a picture that looked like Green strikes the Commander. But the video told a different story and it proves his innocence on the aggravated battery charges.
After this situation, the march continued for HOURS and Green continued to negotiate with police along the way. If he striked the officer, Green would have been in custody. But instead he negotiated with the commanding officer Nagode to get the release of one protester.
Then the protest reached Chicago ave, and Ja'Mal negotiated with Patrol Chief Nagode for the release of another protester. The protesters started to get hit by police officers as Patrol Chief Nagode told officers someone was on the roof. It then began to be chaotic as they pushed Green into the wagon and jumped on top of him and pulled off. In the wagon, Officer Coronnin slams Ja'Mal to the wall and try to break his arm never telling him he was under arrest nor was Ja'Mal resisting. This was witnessed by three other protesters arrested at the same time.
They allege that Green reached for an officers weapon in an effort to trump up the charges. We have over 50 witnesses that have came forward so far that deny the claim. Hundreds of protesters watched Green be peaceful and we know HE IS INNOCENT AND THEY ARE TRYING TO SILENCE THE MOVEMENT!
Anita Alvarez personally went to the 18th district to file these charges. If you go onto his Facebook page, you'll find videos of Ja'Mal protesting Anita and the residents of Chicago know she made this PERSONAL. Please sign this petition in effort to send a message to the city of Chicago that we will not stand behind the system in these bogus CHARGES!
