In the United Kingdom, more than 10,000 badgers suffer unimaginable torture and death every year at the hands of callous hunters and their dogs. These protected species are subjected to barbaric practices that defy both compassion and the law. However, with your help, we can put an end to this cruelty and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Badger baiting involves sending trained dogs down badger setts to locate and corner the terrified animals, while hunters dig them out. Once exposed, the badgers endure a nightmarish fate, torn apart by a pack of viciously trained dogs. This despicable activity primarily takes place between November and March, a time when badger sows are pregnant or nurturing their young.
As winter approaches, badgers instinctively become defensive, fiercely protecting their homes and offspring. Exploiting this behavior, badger baiters engage in this so-called "sport" for their twisted pleasure, inflicting even graver injuries upon their dogs.
The badgers' strength and powerful claws pose a serious threat to the dogs' well-being. The hunters often resort to stitching the wounded dogs themselves, without providing any pain relief or antibiotics. In severe cases, injured dogs are callously shot or left tied up to die.

Currently, the legal consequences for those caught engaging in badger baiting are woefully inadequate, with sentences topping out at a mere six months in prison. This is a grossly insufficient deterrent and does not begin to address the severity of the crime or the suffering inflicted upon the animals.
We stand united in our belief that this punishment does not fit the crime. It is our collective conviction that the sentencing for badger baiting should be increased to up to five years in prison, aligning it with the penalties for dog abuse. Such a change in the law would not only serve as a stronger deterrent but would also signify our society's unwavering commitment to protecting all animals from cruelty and suffering.
