I am writing to you on behalf of the Animal Welfare Investigations Project (AWIP) to invite you to join our Forensics Fund.

We have launched this fund to provide veterinary forensic services for cases involving unknown animals found harmed or dead in our communities. As an animal lover, you know how important it is to protect these innocent creatures and ensure that their abusers are brought to justice.

In the past 12 months, our investigators have responded to a handful of reports where animals have been found dead in our community.

The most recent case involved a 2-year old American Bulldog that was found dead, wrapped in recycling bags, along a busy running route. Unfortunately, investigations into possible animal cruelty often have a serious gap when there is no suspect yet, or the unknown animal has been discarded in a public place. This is where our Forensics Fund comes in.

With your support, we can provide much-needed veterinary forensic services to help solve these cases.

Further investigation into the case of a dumped animal can reveal whether in fact a crime has occurred. In some cases, we may able to solve the case and bring a prosecution.

Even if cases aren’t solved, some worthwhile information is gathered and reported that can assist in understanding animal cruelty in our society.
