Almost 2.4 million dogs are traded each year across Europe. Underage, poorly puppies are smuggled across Europe into Great Britian so they can be sold to the general public.
Unscrupulous dealers can earn significant amounts of money without any proper checks or regulation. The demand for puppies is higher than ever. The risk of operating in this trade is low, but the rewards are high.
Over the weekend, AWIP Investigators were working in an Eastern European country to identify, deter, and disrupt puppy farmers.The operation resulted in the rescue of one puppy and many more are waiting to be rescued.
