The goal of this Petition is to end the never-ending stream of Dog and Cats being Euthanized at Taxpayer Funded Kill Shelters by joining hands with Political Leaders who will join the fight to enact strict federal breeding laws with stiff Penalties for Illegal Breeders .

In the United States, a persistent and heartbreaking issue continues to plague us: the overbreeding of dogs and cats. This leads to countless animals being caged and ultimately euthanized due to a lack of adequate shelters and funding. Every year, over 6 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters, and approximately 1.5 million are euthanized, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

The root of this tragic issue lies in the lax breeding laws that allow unregulated breeding operations to flourish. Many breeders prioritize profit over the well-being of animals, contributing to the overpopulation crisis. Overbreeding not only burdens taxpayer-funded animal shelters but also results in the needless suffering and death of countless innocent animals.

The solution is clear: We need strict new federal breeding laws to curb overbreeding and reduce the number of animals facing such tragic fates. Implementing regulatory standards for breeders, setting limits on the number of litters they can produce, and requiring mandatory spaying and neutering of pets could significantly impact the reduction of overpopulation. Additionally, providing incentives for adopting animals from shelters rather than purchasing them from breeders could help alleviate the burden on shelters.
