Save our Crossing Patroller: Make Edzell Primary School Crossing Patroller a permanent job

The Issue

The children and families of Edzell Primary School and Nursery have become dependant on the placement of a crossing patroller to help them cross the busy road safely between the muir car park and the primary school.  This was put in place for the duration of the school extension building works and then extended for this year.  The position is due to be removed at the end of 2021.

The school car park was not extended and is not big enough for all the families at drop off / pick up.  The school and parent council agreed it was safer for the car park to become for staff, visitor and disabled use only. This means a large percentage of the children need to cross the road to get to the car park on the muir.

The thought of the children crossing the road without assistance is deeply concerning.  The road is very busy with cars, lorries and farm vehicles regularly not adhering to the 20mph speed limit. It is an accident waiting to happen without the crossing patroller there.  The presence of a crossing patroller also helps teach the children to cross the road safely and provides a level of independence for the older children in the school.

We cannot be without our crossing patroller and the position must be made permanent.

Please sign this petition to show your support for making the role of a crossing patroller outside Edzell Primary School a permanent position to help our children, families and future children of Edzell Primary School.
