One of the many responses from Asus to those requesting Android Nougat for their Zenfone 2s and qualifying ZenPads:
"Dear *Zenfone 2* user,
Thank you for contacting ASUS Service Care.
My name is Manjit Choubey and it's my pleasure to help you with your problem.
I understand your concern and would like to inform you that we do not have any officially news regarding an Android 7.0/7.1 "Nougat" update. I would like to request that you please wait for some time an official announcement.
If you have any further questions, comments, or concerns please do not hesitate to let us know. We will be more than happy to assist you.
Have a great day ahead!

What are your thoughts on this response?
Asus claim they "don't have any official news about an Android Nougat update". I find that hard to believe when they surprised all Zenfone 3 owners with an 'OFFICIAL' Nougat update for Christmas.
Asus claim that "we have to wait for official news" regarding an Android Nougat update for our Zenfone 2s and qualifying ZenPads. It's difficult to be patient, sit back and wait for any official news despite owning a qualifying Zen-device (worthy of and very capable of running Android Nougat) while all Zenfone 3 owners are treated with the latest brand new Android operating system. Were we once paying customers or not?
It is official that the Zenfone 3 has been pushed to Android Nougat. But we say it's OFFICIAL that every single Zenfone 2, included certain qualifying ZenPads can run Android Nougat just as good as the Zenfone 3.
