TAKE ACTION: COMMUNITY PHOTO AGAINST AGL FOSSIL FUELS

Australian Mothers-Against-GasCamden, Australia
Sep 21, 2016
350.org have a photo campaign in the lead up to the AGL AGM next Wednesday. They are asking groups and individuals to take a photo in your community with a simple sign that says: (Your location) calls on AGL to go fossil free. It can be a selfie, a snap with your friends or a big community photo! Then email the photo to:- photos@350.org 350.org will then blow up the images and have community members hold them outside the AGM to demonstrate widespread community demand for Australia’s Biggest Climate Polluter to exit fossil fuels. Join us next Wednesday 28th September outside AGLs AGM WHEN: 9.30am WHERE: City Recital Hall, Angel Place, Sydney RSVP here: https://www.facebook.com/events/864652537001785/ Co-hosted by Stop CSG Sydney and 350 Australia and supported by GetUp! AGL is holding its AGM in Sydney at the end of this month. It will be attended by shareholders, its CEO and its board, and gives us an opportunity to express our opposition to fossil fuels and AGL as one of the dirtiest dozen. Residents living next to AGL’s coal seam gas fields in Camden, in south west Sydney, want AGL to leave now — not in 2023. They want an end to bad nose bleeds, headaches, and breathing problems caused by the toxic wells. AGL is the country's biggest generator of coal-fired electricity. It operates some of Australia's most polluting coal-fired power plants, including Bayswater in the Hunter region. There is no excuse for AGL’s continued coal seam gas fracking and coal-fired pollution. Join with others concerned about climate justice outside AGL’s AGM in Sydney as shareholders enter the building. Bring your banners, your signs, and your voices. SPEAKERS: Raymond 'Bubbly' Weatherall — Gamilaraay man, Gomeroi Native Title applicant Julie Lyford — Groundswell Gloucester Peter Kennedy — former coal miner Dr Helen Redmond — Doctors for the Environment Melinda Wilson — Australian Mothers Against Gas Ecopella, an environmental choir, will be performing Look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday 28th.
