Our petition is growing more than I could have ever imagined. I think many of us - whether we’ve delivered babies or not - understand that it is inhumane to abandon people in labor. We know medically that support is crucial for birth, but we also know it in our hearts. 

New York Mayor Bill DiBlasio has guaranteed that public hospitals will allow one support person per birthing parent. This is great news, but we need to continue building pressure on the private hospitals. I think we can do that by sharing our stories. 

We’re going to make a video to share along with the campaign. You can participate by submitting a short (30 seconds or less) video of yourself answering this question:

How do you feel when you think about laboring alone? Why did you need a support person in labor?
