Governor Cuomo has announced that teachers are frontline-essential workers. However, they are not receiving hazard pay, which other frontline-essential workers are. Additionally, up to 20% of educational funds were cut this year, resulting in hundreds of teaching and support staff to be laid-off across the state. Even with this major slash to the education budget, school districts will still have to buy their own PPE.
