Dear Fellow Parole Officers,

While assisting my fellow Parole Officers in taking a non-compliant parolee into custody, I got injured in the line-of-duty. Attached is a photo of my injury. While other law enforcement officers receive 100% line-of-duty injury benefits, I had to use my own sick time in order to recuperate.
 
That prompted me to start this Change.org petition, demanding that New York State Parole Officers receive 100% line-of-duty injury benefits similar to every other law enforcement officer in New York State.
 
Today, I want to thank the 2,595 people who signed this petition. Your signatures started a movement like no other. It brought much needed attention to the fact that Parole Officers work a dangerous job without the protection of law enforcement benefits.
 
Last year, we gained an ally in our fight to obtain law enforcement benefits. The Law Enforcement Employees Benevolent Association (LEEBA) has vowed to vigorously advocate on our behalf. LEEBA’s position is that Parole Officers deserve the same law enforcement benefits enjoyed by New York State Correction Officers (i.e. Line of Duty, Heart Bill, 25 Year Retirement With No Age Requirement, etc.) since we both work for DOCCS.         
 
Once again, I am asking for your help. LEEBA requires 300 signatures from active Parole Officers, Senior Parole Officers and Parole Revocation Specialists in order to have the legal authority to speak with us at our place of employment. We deserve to hear what LEEBA has to offer us. What do we have to lose?
