ELMIRA, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - - Heavy presence on Elmira's Southside Tuesday as swat teams were called in when New York State Parole Officers attempted to serve a warrant. Elmira Police say they were called to 463 Falck Street around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday after parole officers tried to serve a warrant to 23-year-old Marquan Jones. Police say Jones ran inside and barricaded himself in the home. The Elmira Swat Team was called in as well as a crisis negotiator. After several hours Jones came out peacefully just before 3 p.m. He was turned over to the parole officers and is being held on the violation warrant at the Chemung County Jail. The Elmira Police Department would like to thank the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Parole, New York State Police including the NYSP K-9 Unit, and Erway Ambulance for their assistance during this investigation.
