Hundreds of thousands of migratory birds are trapped nightly within the beams of the September 11 Memorial lights, which reach four miles into the sky. While lights are periodically turned off to free trapped birds, this solution is ineffective Migrating birds are drawn to, trapped in, blinded and even burned by these lights, causing injury, stress and fatigue, impairing their ability to survive to complete migration. People who walk by the Memorial in the mornings are distressed by the hundreds of dead birds littering the ground. This is not the way to honor our dead.

Turn off the lights.
