Need more pressure on our politicians!

Good Evening, After all of our work, perseverance, due diligence, and really a grass-roots movement to improve the quality of life for everyone in our area, I was VERY disappointed and frustrated to see that the signs advising that adults without children should not be in the park, were removed from the Vincent Albano Playground on 29th and 2nd. Only one sign on the outside of the playground remains in small lettering with all rules for the park. I wrote the email below to all our council members and am awaiting a response. The one response I did receive was from Mendez' office for my full address and number, because of course I only count if I vote in her district. The removal of the signs is a slap in the face to everything we are working for. Please join me in reaching out to our representatives to get the signs back. In addition, there has been no additional lighting provided in the area by the shelter as promised by both Mendez and Garodnick. ******************************************************************* Good evening, I was very disappointed and disheartened to learn from several parents that the signs clearly stating "adults not allowed in the playground unless accompanied by a child" were removed at the Vincent Albano playground on 29th street and 2nd avenue, evidently through the office of Rosie Mendez. Instead there is one sign with small lettering stating that adults without children cannot be in the play area. Why was this change made? We have made so much progress as a community with your help and the absolute vigilance and responsiveness of the 17th precinct, that this seems completely contrary to what we are trying to achieve: safety for children and parents. So an adult can sit on a bench not in the play area but arms reach away from our children? They can sit and leer and photograph them?? Why the change? The signs inside the park enabled us as parents to point and tell people who had no children to leave. Now what do we do? Escort them to a bench? The signs served as a DETERRENT to people who have no business being around children. We expect a response from you as to why the change happened. TREES are more protected than our children in these playgrounds and that just is not right. Please let us know what happened, why, and how this will be addressed. Thank you,
