You’ve probably never heard of this animal because they don’t teach us about these  big things in school, but this species of animal has only 9 left! Imagine if you were the vaquita, swimming, but suddenly you get trapped in a gill net, a type of net. You can’t see it, but it caught you anyway. You struggle against the net but you get more  tangled in it. The fishers don’t care, all they care about it the shrimp and the money they’re going to get. And eventually, you die. I myself, have never EVER heard about this animal until this year. They have hid this creatures existence so well that people in Mexico don’t even know! The vaquita porpoise is the most endangered species on EARTH! Lower than 10 of these creatures exist! More than 10,000 of these creatures die every year! We are trying to save these animals, but many people question why. Well the reason is this, without vaquita, there will be a chain reaction of extinctions, 2 cetacean species will be gone and the predators who eat these creatures may dwindle too. And then whatever ever eat them and them and whatever needs them, the chain going on until it ends. The fate of a entire animal species is in your hands. Do you you save it or kill it? Humans want to live their life, I know, me to, but the vaquita needs to live its life or it’ll be gone forever. Even signing this petition will help! Even if it’s a tiny thing, if we combine it with others, it becomes bigger and bigger until they ban gill nets. It’s not fair that animals go extinct and we relax like nothing happened. I know that we can’t give up because if we do, we’ll never be what we always all wanted to be. A hero. 

In 2017, the Mexican government was protecting these animals. But now they have made it so that fishing will be allowed where the vaquita live! In the Gulf of California, which belongs to Mexico despite it’s name. The vaquita are dying because of gill net fishing, and I want to stop that. We shouldn’t let these amazing animals die just because we need some fish or shrimp. We can always get it elsewhere plus, vaquita are pretty cute! I know some of you won’t care because this vaquita creature isn’t none of your concern, but I hope you do sign anyway. Creatures going extinct is a terrible thing, and it will have major impact on all of us.

USA to contact Mexico and encourage and convince them to ban gill nets in the Gulf of California. They should also say that they should clean up all the gill nets and let everyone know about banning gill nets. 

Or, we could give the vaquita another habitat some where else. To the people reading this, please sign and share this petition to all your friends and all your family members because the vaquita porpoise has a purpose to be alive, has a reason, and it deserves to live and survive another day. We have already killed a lot of animals, it’s time for us to SAVE them! I would like to say when I grow old, “There 9 left, but then there were around 900,000 now! We saved the vaquita porpoise from extinction, proving that people have souls and hearts after all.” I believe you do to. I don’t think we want to say, “Back in my day, there were these creatures called vaquitas…”

We can save another generation together, which is pretty cool. We can do it, together. We have to!
