The gates at Ho'okipa Beach Park are now open at 5:30AM Daily. 

Surfrider Foundation Maui Chapter signed a Right of Entry (ROE) with the County of Maui to oversee the earlier opening times. The Chapter has further partnered with Maui Traffic Control Services to open the gates each morning. 

For the time being, this effort is being privately funded by Surfrider Foundation. Support that effort by donating via this link. Or, become a member of Surfrider at maui.surfrider.org.

Toward the end of winter the Maui County Parks and Rec department believes they will be able to continue the opening under the public umbrella. 

Again - thanks to all the individuals who spoke, wrote, signed, posted and took a stand. It made a difference.
