An Open Letter to the Electors of the United States Electoral College - Vote on 12/19/16

An Open Letter to the Electors of the United States Electoral College - Vote on 12/19/16
The Issue
Integrity, strength, and caring.
The President of the United States of America must embody these values.
It is the position of the undersigned, that the President-elect Donald Trump is not fit to assume the position of the President of the United States. He has not sufficiently exhibited integrity, strength, and caring through his own words and actions, and it is because of the deficiency of these values, the lack of practical experience, and the impropriety of his past and current actions, that Donald Trump is deemed by most Americans to be unqualified to manage the immense responsibilities of the POTUS.
Furthermore, it is the concern of the undersigned that the President-elect, should he be voted into office by the electors on December 19, 2016, will not possess the capabilities to render the most beneficial decisions for this country on the issues concerning the domestic economy, international relations, climate change and the environment, education, religious freedoms, healthcare, and women’s rights.
It is for these reasons that the undersigned urgently request the electors to consider committing their vote to another candidate on December 19th.
To justify our position, the following has been included in the letter:
- Select statements by Donald Trump
- Select statements by Republicans opposed to Donald Trump
- A list of Republican leaders who oppose Donald Trump
- A copy of the Open Letter on Donald Trump from GOP National Security Leaders
- A copy of the Statement By Former National Security Officials.
.................................................
On November 9, 2016, the majority of American voters did not vote for Donald Trump.
Donald Trump became President-elect because of the distribution of electoral votes. Unfortunately, this result did not honor the will of the people, or even the leaders of his own party.
On Scholastic.com, a resource for elementary school teachers, Sean Stewart Price describes what makes a person best qualified to be president in the article, What Makes a Great President?:
"…..a candidate's character often gives clues as to how the person will react under stress. People disagree about what character traits are most important in a President. But there are some commonly accepted things that people look for, such as integrity, strength, and caring."
Donald Trump has shown through his past and present statements and actions that he does not possess the character, the values, the experience, the respect for Muslims, the respect for the environment, the respect for all cultures and creeds, or the respect for women that are vitally important to be able to successfully do the work of the President of the United States. He does not possess the integrity, strength, and caring.
By voting for Donald Trump, what message are we sending to our children? What are we teaching them? What are we providing for their future?
On December 19, 2016, every elector has the opportunity to make a very important choice and vote for their values. The significance of this election is greater than any other we have ever faced.
Please vote well.
Thank you.
