Good afternoon everyone. 

We are gaining momentum as our law community and other supporters join in this coalition for respectful dialogue and the rejection of intimidation, incitement to violence and its celebration. We just reached 1,250 signatories  — and over 213,000 views within and outside Canada.

Of importance, the article reflected the initiative’s student-based origin. I believe that the initiative represents one step in empowering law students (amongst others) on campuses to advocate for respectful dialogue and for faculties and administrations to create a safe environment for the exchange of divergent views, encourage active listening and critical, independent thinking. As this initiative grows, I will discuss some concrete steps to create that safe environment.
