Statement From Youth Against Violence:

On the 3rd of February 2023, Youth Against Violence have announced a joint initiative with Fiona Arakelian to ban Kirpans in schools and push for better and fairer sentencing when it comes to serious and violent offences involving knife crime.

”Religion aside, anything that can be used as a weapon should be banned in schools” Ouwais Menzel, Founder of Youth Against Violence said

”Young people’s brains have not developed to a level where they can responsibly carry Kirpans”

”School safety is paramount and we need to maintain a safe environment in schools where our young people should feel safe”

”We will work alongside Fiona to ensure these actions are taken, this is the least the NSW Government and decision makers can do to prevent serious injury or death”
