An Immediate Call for the Firing of Victoria Huynh

The Issue

Victoria Huynh is a professor at UC Berkeley who is giving students extra credit for participating in a student walkout against "genocide" and "settler colonialism" against Palestine. There was no such credit given for those students who stand against Hamas, nor was there any official condemnation of the attacks on October 7th. This heavily impacts Jewish students on campus and draws a line between those who participate in the walkout and those who do not.

Students are also encouraged to watch a short documentary on the history of Palestine and call their local representative in favor of ending "the occupation." This could be very triggering to Jewish or Israeli students, as well as any intellectually-minded person who has a less one-sided view of the conflict. Victoria Huynh has no place in higher education. The purpose of higher education is to educate, not to impose and indoctrinate.
