End SHD’s in our area NOW!

Please sign this petition and let's put real pressure on our local TD’s Neale Richmond, Josepha Madigan and Catherine Martin to join with local residents to oppose any future SHD planning permission applications received by An Bord Pleanála for our area.  Strategic Housing Development legislation is due to end on 31/12/2021, we need Neale Richmond, Josepha Madigan and Catherine Martin to commit, to us, that they will not back any extension to this legislation should the subject arise.

Just today we have heard that another 482 apartments to include a 22 storey block of apartments has been granted permission by An Bord Pleanála for Carrickmines. This building will be one of the tallest buildings in the country!!!  By granting this permission today, they have just set a precedent for the future planning applications. Our area has had enough!

Strategic Housing Development legislation was passed 5 years ago to increase housing supply faster than the normal process through the local councils. In our area, in particular, this is going to create even more traffic on our already congested local roads.  Our Luas is already at full capacity in the morning at peak times and evening peak times. These developments are completely out of character for our area.  With these SHDs by-passing local councils, they are also by-passing our local area development plans and ploughing ahead with massive amounts of housing without the proper planning, infrastructure, schools and amenities.
