Commbank extracts more profit from the POOREST Australians

Jason BryceWILLIAMSTOWN, Australia

Hi Cash Lovers,

Commonwealth Bank is currently on a branch closing spree. Dozens of CBA branches are closing forever in the suburbs of Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

These latest branches aren't closing because of 'changing consumer behaviour' (haha), these are the busy branches with queues out the door on pension day.

Commonwealth Bank is making withdrawals more difficult and more expensive because Commonwealth Bank paid NO INTEREST on $122 billion of deposits last financial year.

Now they're charging $3 for most Bank@Post cash withdrawals.

Commonwealth Bank is Australia's biggest and most profitable bank not because it has the smartest executive team or the most competitive loans and mortgages.

Commonwealth Bank is Australia's leading bank because it has $122 billion of free funding from ordinary Australians.

Now Commonwealth Bank wants  to extract MORE profits from Australia's poor by making withdrawals even more difficult.

The below list of branch closures has been compiled from information YOU SENT IN.

People who have signed this petition have helped me work out which Commonwealth Bank branches have closed recently or are about to close:

Victorian CBA branches closing:

Williamstown (closing November 2026)

Altona  (closing November 2026)

Altona North  (closing November 2026)

Lilydale (closing November 2026)

Boronia  "closed two weeks ago, no notice, government guarantees the deposits so providing branches and cash should be part of their lucrative business."

Lara  (closed in July 2026)

"Good luck with your efforts, around me they have already closed:

Lower Templestowe

Bulleen Plaza

Glen Iris "I discovered it closed when I went to get cash from the ATM. I then went straight to the next nearest Camberwell branch and closed my account, telling them why obviously, but they did not appear to care at all."

Greythorn

Dallas "We have already had our local Commbank close -  Dallas branch in Broadmeadows. A real shitty thing with all the elderly in the area."

North Balwyn

Ivanhoe "There are now no bank branches in Ivanhoe. Getting cash is becoming difficult. CBA seems to want to close all their branches and become a net only bank."

"Ivanhoe closed in mid September, leaving one ATM in the wall outside.  This ATM has not been working for the past two weeks.  The banks priority is to shareholders. not customers - obvious when the CEO's bonus depends on the size of the profit which enables a larger share dividend."

West Heidelberg

Brandon Park closed in October 2026

Thomastown

Eltham  (closed October) "Customers redirected to either Eltham PO or the Comm Bank in Greensborough."

Yarram "Five banks have closed over about 3 years, including the big four and Bendigo. There are no bank branches in this town now, the closest branches are more than 60km away, and there is no public transport!"

NSW branches closing:

Frenchs Forest "Can’t understand how these banks can justify. "

"Jason, Frenchs Forest closed in September, it was a very busy branch, always had a queue of customers waiting for service."

Forestville "A lot of pensioners who aren't comfortable with technology live in these areas and are having to travel a lot further to do their banking."

Gladesville (Dec 2023) "We now  have no banks left in Gladesville, we used to have CBA, WBC, St George, ANZ and NAB."

Avalon (closing 27 November) "Now there will be no bank on the northern beaches north of Mona Vale, there are three suburbs affected: Newport, Avalon & Palm Beach. A trip to Mona Vale by car is about 20 minutes, bus takes longer of course."

Mortdale  (closed October 2026)

Argyle St Camden  (closed August 2026)

Umina Beach  (closed August 2026)

Balmain  (closed March 2026)

Annandale "It was the only bank branch in the heart of Annandale village with lots of small businesses around it. That building is now up for sale."

Dulwich Hill

Norwest

Windsor

Wentworthville "CBA is closing Norwest and Windsor branches soon, Wentworthville closed a few months ago. All these branches were busy, bloody criminals mate."

Albion Park

Toronto

Kingscliff

Belmont

Queensland branches closing:

Arana Hills "is also closing down. Not sure of date."

Sandgate (closing December 2026)

Kenmore "closed a month or two ago,  leaving the area with not one single bank of any brand, I don't use or trust Commonwealth or any bank now"

"Dear Jason, The Commonwealth bank at Kenmore has closed and the nearest is at Indooroopilly five kilometres away in a busy shopping centre. This is a burden for many, particularly the elderly."

Mount Gravatt

South Australian branches closing:

Stirling  5152 "we now have to travel 10km away to the nearest and the other thing is, they make you feel like a criminal if you deposit money and you have to go through intense questioning if you want to take a few thousand cash out – very upsetting."

Blackwood "we chose that bank because it was local and saves driving down the hill to the next branch. Closing it encourages more people to drive unnecessarily and add to traffic and climate change problems."

Please help me grow this petition and stand up for our right to choose how we pay.

Banks are making billions in profit from their cashless payments and paying us little or no interest on our deposits.

I don't get a chance to thank everyone who makes a donation. Usually I have no way of contacting them so THANK YOU to everyone who has helped make this campaign such a success.

Please help me continue to point out the obvious facts to the media and our politicians:

CASH is our LEGAL TENDER and must be accepted - and available - everywhere.

Cash is private, reliable and includes everyone.

More Australians are going back to using cash. More small businesses are accepting cash or preferring cash payments. Our campaign is working.

Yours sincerely,
