Hi Cash Lovers, 

The announcement yesterday that surcharging of credit and debit card transactions will be banned means prices will rise for all consumers.

The fees we pay for using a card will be included and hidden in the prices of the things we buy. Even cash users will pay.

Frequent flyer points, concierge services and other benefits enjoyed by premium credit card users will be subsidised by cash and debit card users.

Ordinary Australians will pay for the free overseas holidays and business class upgrades of premium credit card users.

Card surcharging is an Australian innovation in regulation to ensure that users pay for the costs of their card payments, including all the benefits they receive.

People who shop with cash - and debit cards - will all pay more to subsidise the costs of Visa and Mastercard credit card users.
