We need to mobilise NOW to write thousands of emails to the cash mandate consultation this week.
All retailers must accept cash, with very few exemptions, but the government is proposing a cash mandate that will allow 97% of retailers to reject our legal tender and demand card or phone payments only.

The government says they want to keep cash accepted but
the proposed law will allow all retailers not selling "essentials" to opt out.
The proposed list of essentials is confusing and will lead to disputes. All retailers must accept cash, with very few exemptions, if this proposed cash mandate is going to work.
Australians want cash to stay in circulation and expect to be able use their legal tender to buy whatever they choose.
