Dear Supporters,

Thank you for adding your voice to honor Theodora Smiley Lacey’s extraordinary legacy. Your signature on the petition brings us one step closer to ensuring her portrait, "A Life of Service", finds a permanent home at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History.

Last weekend the official short film, "A Life of Service": Theodora Smiley Lacey - In the Words of Her Family was screened at the Teaneck International Film Festival.

This 9-minute film offers an intimate glimpse into Theodora Smiley Lacey’s life, as told through the heartfelt reflections of her children. It’s a powerful reminder of the impact one life of service can have on countless others.

As the portrait remains on exhibit at The Newark Museum of Art through December 1st as part of the Newark Arts Festival, we're focused on bringing her story to communities nationwide, in partnership with HBCUs and organizations dedicated to preserving her legacy.

Together, we can keep the momentum going:

Your support is helping shine a national spotlight on an extraordinary woman who exemplified the power of service and leadership.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
