Background

1.      Eurovision 2024 marks the 4th time that the winner of the contest is not the winner of the public vote since the new voting method was introduced in 2016 (The other times were 2016, 2019, and 2023).

2.      In addition, Eurovision 2024 marks the first time that the winner is not in the public top 3 places.

3.      From that we conclude that in the current voting method the winning song reflects the will of the public only 50% of the time.

4.       Therefore , we are proposing an amendment to the voting method.

The Proposed Amendment

5.      The jury in each country will award points only to the top 3 songs (12, 10, and 8 points) instead of top 10.

6.      The public vote will remain unchanged.

7.      In this method each country will award 30 points from their jury and 58 points from the public (a total of 88 point).

8.      The amended method will change the power balance in each country from 50%-50% to approximately 66%-33% in favor of the public.
