Shannon, is busy navigating the foreign school system, and Ollie is struggling as the school year is different.
Remember, Shannon is completely reliant upon Ollie's father for any financial support. How will she pay for a tutor to bring Ollie up to speed. The school year overseas has now finished for the year, Ollie was doing well in his schooling in Australia, but our school year was not even halfway through when Ollie and Shannon were forced to go this communist country they are now in. It is not Shannon or Ollie's fault that he is not understanding subjects like mathematics and spelling.
Another major concern for Shannon is what will the court's response be to Ollie's struggles? The court's have the wardship and responsibility for ensuring that Ollie is in the best school for him. What will the court's do when they find out Ollie is struggling? Will they remove him from Shannon's care if she can't help him to catch up to the other students? Will they change his school? These are questions that Shannon does not know the answer to.
Shannon is trying to obtain legal advice and representation overseas, so that she can fight for Ollie's rights. She has already been knocked back once, she is reapplying will she be successful this time?
These are the very real issues facing Shannon each day. Little Ollie is confused, and tired. He is not sleeping and he put his head in his mother's lap last week and just cried and cried, asking "Why can't we go back to Australia? I don't like school. I just want to go home!"
Your standing by Shannon by promoting this petition is vital.
Have you ever wondered why we can't show you the actual photos of Ollie distressed at the airport as he is forced to leave Australia?
It is because of section 121, a gag order put in place by the family law courts. This means that no identifying information can be released. It also means that no one can look at the case and see if justice has really been done. Transparency is vital in any justice system for the public to have faith. Without transparency corrupt deals can be made. Even when Ollie becomes an adult he is not allowed to speak about his experience. This is one piece of legislation we are wanting to amend and change. We still want to protect children's identities, but we would like to see court documents open for all to see. By changing all the names we could all get to look at Shannon's case, and other's peoples cases and know that the law has been upheld. Know that justice has been done.
