Amend House Bill 425 - Protect lost pets, deer recovery, and community services.

Ohio House Bill 425 aims to prohibit flying drones over private property, but as written, it will criminalize vital community services that help Ohio families every day.

Drones are essential tools for:

• Finding lost pets before they freeze, starve, get hit by cars, or during medical emergencies. 
• Locating injured deer from hunters for humane recovery 
• Helping volunteers and local first responders in search and rescue
• Supporting small businesses and hobbyists who operate safely and legally under FAA rules.

HB425 contains no exemptions for these critical issues.

This bill does nothing to stop bad actors--those intent on spying or harassing others-- this will continue regardless. Instead, HB425 punishes responsible operators and harms families, pet owners, hunters, and first responders who rely on drones for lifesaving tasks.

We call on the Ohio House Transportation Committee to include clear exemptions for lost-pet searches, wildlife recovery, search and rescue, and other public benefit operations.

Privacy can still be protected without harming the very tools that help save lives.
