As an employee of Chipotle with facial piercings, I am faced with a difficult choice - either force my piercings to close or cover them up. Both options present significant health concerns. The current policy, which prohibits facial piercings, is not only discriminatory but also potentially harmful to the health of employees like me.

Evidence suggests that removing and reinserting piercings can lead to complications such as infection and scarring (American Academy of Dermatology). Furthermore, covering up piercings can trap bacteria and cause irritation or allergic reactions (Mayo Clinic). This is not just about personal expression; it's about employee safety.

In addition, allowing facial piercings does not negatively impact customer service or satisfaction. Many successful companies in our industry have inclusive dress code policies that respect individuality while maintaining professionalism.

We urge Chipotle to reconsider its stance on this issue and amend its dress code policy. Allowing employees the freedom to wear facial piercings will foster a more inclusive work environment while protecting the health of its staff members.
