Amazon Withheld My Funds and Destroyed My Business – They Must Be Held Accountable

Amazon Withheld My Funds and Destroyed My Business – They Must Be Held Accountable
The Issue
My name is Pierre, and for years, I ran a small business through Amazon. Like many others, I trusted the platform to support sellers like me—those who work hard, follow the rules, and rely on their income to support their families.
But Amazon destroyed everything I built.
Eleven months ago, Amazon suddenly suspended my account and froze all of my funds. They demanded documents and invoices that simply don’t exist—insisting I provide proof of purchase dated within 180 days, even for products bought over two years ago. Despite my efforts to comply, I received no meaningful help or resolution.
Even worse, Amazon continued deducting fees from my account throughout the entire suspension—despite blocking my access to trade or even withdraw my balance.
This led to devastating consequences:
My business account was frozen.
My company was struck off from Companies House.
I lost access to essential income.
I now face court-ordered eviction, and my family risks homelessness.
My daughter is preparing for her GCSEs—completely unaware that a bailiff could soon knock at our door.
I Tried Everything
I reached out to:
The Department for Business and Trade (DBT)
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA)
The Office of the Small Business Commissioner
Companies House
My local MP
Amazon’s legal and executive escalation teams
I was even assigned a contact through the Department for Business and Trade—someone from the Global Digital Commerce & Marketplace Partnerships Team. Despite their willingness to help, it has become increasingly clear that the UK government has little real influence over Amazon’s internal decision-making.
Amazon seems to operate outside the reach of UK regulation, and it feels as though the law is either unable or unwilling to protect small businesses from corporate harm. If a platform like Amazon can hold back funds indefinitely, ignore government departments, and continue charging sellers while blocking their access, who is really in control?
Why This Petition Matters
I am not the only one.
Many small sellers have faced unjust suspensions, withheld funds, impossible demands, and the complete shutdown of their businesses, often without any human review or clear process.
Enough is enough.
We are calling on:
Amazon UK to immediately release funds from long-suspended accounts and offer fair compensation for unjust harm
The UK Government to investigate and regulate marketplace practices that leave small sellers without protection, income, or appeal rights
Amazon cannot continue to treat small business owners as disposable. We deserve transparency, fairness, and dignity.
Please sign this petition to show Amazon and the UK Government that this cannot be ignored. Your signature is a stand for fairness, not just for me, but for every small business that’s been crushed in silence.
Thank you for standing with me.
