Amazon Should Reverse Announced Small and Light Changes

The Issue

In light of the ending of the Small and Light Program, we, as private label sellers would like to bring to your notice that customers value the lower price v/s a faster shipping when given a choice between a lower priced product v/s a higher priced product with faster shipping. Many of the lower-priced items selling at $10 or lower have a very low-profit margin to absorb the already squeezed margins, and this shipping price increase would invariably lead to a rise in prices for customers since sellers would have no choice but to pass on these increased rates to customers in the form of increased product price. You can see the voice of many sellers on the forums page here.

Also, the service from Chinese platforms like Aliexpress, Temu, Shein, and others has vastly improved. Not only do they offer very low prices on many of the items sold on Amazon, but their shipping service is also much faster than before. With increased pricing, you will push more buyers towards these platforms, hence a net loss of buyers on Amazon and, thus, lower profit for both sellers and Amazon.

A better solution will be to offer a choice to sellers and buyers if they want to offer a faster shipping service for an additional cost v/s lower cost for a slightly longer shipping time. Also, the price limit of $10 or $12 on the item price should be eliminated since the shipping cost for a 15oz product is the same whether it's sold for $10 or $50.

We request you to please consider the requests from all 3rd party sellers and roll back the announced changes to the small and light program and also remove the price limit on the same. We are sure this will increase the Amazon platform's attractiveness for buyers and sellers.

Thank you
