Hello Plastic-Free Family,

I hope you and your families are safe and well. My family and I are celebrating the return of summer, while recognizing that the COVID-19 pandemic continues to upend the lives of people around the world. Many of us remain dependent on Amazon and online retail to secure the food and goods our families need.

Locally, it seems that every other vehicle is out for a delivery of one sort or another and I don't blame people as it's still the safest option many of us have. It's disheartening though as we also see the plastic packaging keeps piling up and will eventually pollute our countryside, rivers and oceans.

During these times, I’m encouraged that together people like us can make change happen. Over the last few weeks, we’ve seen the power of citizens to force through change despite the obstacles. Today, I’m asking for your help to make Amazon take notice. The Oceana team and I have been attempting to contact Amazon’s leadership to share your call for a plastic-free choice, but still no word back. We deserve an answer and need your help to get their attention. 

We’re so close to reaching 400,000 people like you and me using our voices to make a difference. That is a major milestone we should all be excited about. YOU are part of this. If we keep this up, there’s no way Amazon can ignore us! Please help keep this movement going by asking your friends and family on social media to add their names too.

We've had success thus far because our ask is simple, practical and will result in a HUGE reduction in the overall deluge of plastic waste. Let's turn the tap off at its source.
