What if enough of you don't show up at the council meeting and only the opposition does....
Dear Matilda Family, Friends, Supporters & Fans,
First and foremost, Mark and I want to thank you for helping support Alpharetta's "best kept secret" for 13 years. We could never have had the success we have had without you.
As Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead said, “The Music Never Stopped." That will only be true for Matildas if you all will join Mark and me to show the city of Milton that what we have done together in creating this venue called Matildas is worth preserving. The fate and future of our dream and the incredible and unique music entertainment experience you have enjoyed for all of these years hangs in the balance. So, on Monday night, June 18 at the City of Milton Council meeting at 6:00 p.m., the fate of Matildas as you know it, will be determined, and only you, ALL OF YOU, can see to it that “The Music Never Stops”.
How can you help? Your presence at that meeting is critical. By being there, you will ensure that we don't let a "few" misinformed, but politically motivated citizens prevent the mayor and council from seeing just what all of us have known for years; what a great asset Matildas in Milton would be for the entire community You don’t need to live in Milton. You just need to love Matildas.
PLEASE DON’T STOP READING.
As many of you know, the property that has been home to Matildas (in Alpharetta) all of these years has been sold, thus ending our ability to continue to bring you the great music experience that you have all grown to love. The good news is we have been offered an amazing location in the city of Milton. The bad news is somehow the “new” Matildas “business license approval” by the City of Milton, has become a political football in a struggle between the elected officials (most all of whom support Matildas) and a few, very political, self proclaimed citizen advocates who have never even been to Matildas. They are envisioning Matildas as another Verizon Amphitheater. They have spread half truths and misrepresentations about Mark and me and our intentions; the loudness of our events, the number of people that attend Matildas, and yes, even about the disorderly and drunken patrons that will bring crime to the area. We know it sounds unbelievable, especially if you have been to Matildas. Nonetheless, we have been able to accurately inform the planning commission and members of the council through all of this “smoke” with the truth and have made it to the final hurdle, before we can move to our new location. Clearing that hurdle is why we desperately need your help. We need to have an “overwhelming show of support” (as stated in the city code) for Matildas at that Milton City Council meeting on Monday, June 18th at 6:00 p.m.
That’s it. We need YOU. We have been told that unless we have hundreds of people there, it is likely that our council support will evaporate. Without the “overwhelming community support” (required by code) to backup the council's vote for approval, the opposition is armed with misrepresentations and fear mongering of what Matildas will bring to Milton.
SO PLEASE! We ask this one more time. NO, Mark & I beg you; make a commitment to show up. Bring your spouse and/or a friend or two. We really need you there. Take this last week before the meeting to clear your schedule and contact a few friends to go with you (maybe the friends you have gone to Matildas with in the past). Again, you need not be a resident of Milton, just a supporter of Matildas, but it will carry more weight if you are Milton resident. You will not be required to speak, unless you want to. (Meeting details below)
If you show up for us, as we hope you will, Mark and I promise we will continue to work tirelessly to continue at the new MILTON Matildas the same amazing and unique music entertainment experience that you have come to love and expect each and every time you visit us. Thank you; and we will see you all on the 18th!

(The link above can be used to get to the City of Milton webpage. From there you can find links on each councilmen/council woman’s individual pages (as well as the mayor) to email your comments/feelings in support of Matildas to them. We encourage you to do this as well as showing up on the 18th, but please do not do this in place of being there in person on the 18th, unless you can absolutely not make it. Also, please make sure to email your thoughts to each member, including the mayor. Remember, this does not need to be a long email if you do not have the time, just a quick "I support Matildas in Milton, and anyone that has ever been there would too!” would suffice. As with attendance at the council meeting, we are looking to show overwhelming support, so “lots vs. some” is in order here.)
Thank you in advance for your support! We soooooo appreciate you!
