My beloved cat has gone missing in our community on November 24, 2023. This is a deeply personal issue for me and many others who have experienced the heartbreak of losing a pet. We brought Pusheen home as a comfort after experiencing the loss of my beloved son to cancer at the tender age of 2. Our pets are not just animals; they are family members who bring joy, companionship, and love into our lives.

Unfortunately, my story is not unique. According to the American Humane Association, over 10 million pets go missing each year in the U.S., with many never returning home (American Humane Association). In response to this crisis, I am urging the Highpoint community to allow me to implement humane trapping methods designed specifically for retrieving lost pets.

These traps are safe for animals and highly effective. They can be set up in areas where lost pets have been sighted or where they might likely wander. Once an animal enters the trap seeking food or shelter, a door gently closes behind them preventing escape but causing no harm.

By implementing this strategy within the Highpoint community (where I have had confirmed sightings),  we could significantly increase the chances of reuniting him with my daughter and I while ensuring his and any animals safety during retrieval process. It's time we take action on this issue that affects so many pet owners within this community.
