I am a student at Richmond High School (Indiana) who, like many others, is not permitted to carry all of my school supplies that I need for my classes by means of a bag. This restriction extends to all students who need to carry textbooks, computers, papers, folders, pencils, calculators, hygiene products, and various other necessities.

The current policy places an undue burden on us students by limiting our ability to effectively manage and transport our educational materials.

Though each student has a locker, it is unreasonable for students to stop at their allotted locker during the passing period. According to the National Education Association (NEA), having immediate access to necessary learning tools can significantly enhance a student's academic performance.

We believe that this policy does not consider the practical needs of students and may even be detrimental to our learning process. We are calling for a change in this policy so that we can carry bags large enough for our textbooks during school hours.
