Allow Stray Kids to Display Their Tattoos

Allow Stray Kids to Display Their Tattoos

The Issue

Stray Kids, the globally renowned South Korean boy band, represents much more than just music. It encapsulates individuality, self-expression, and freedom. But sadly, even today, the band members are denied their simple right to display their tattoos, a genuine part of who they are. Stray Kids' member Han Jisung carries beautiful tattoos, each telling a unique story and presenting an aspect of their personalities. However, he is often forced to cover them up, thereby suppressing a basic form of self-expression. This has personally affected us as we value authenticity and self-expression highly, and we believe the same is true for millions of other fans worldwide.

According to a study by the Pew Research Center, around 38% of young people globally have at least one tattoo, underlining that tattoos are not fringe or unconventional, but a mainstream form of personal expression (Pew Research Center, 2010). Therefore, the restriction on Stray Kids displaying their tattoos is archaic and inconsistent with global acceptance.

Lifting this ban would not only respect the band's personal autonomy but also send a powerful message supporting freedom and authenticity within the industry and beyond that identity should never be hidden or denied.

Through this petition, we urge the relevant authorities and decision-makers to eliminate this constraint and let Stray Kids fully express their uniqueness. Our request isn't just about their freedom to display tattoos; it's about upholding their right to retain and flaunt their individuality, their shared passion, their story. Please join us, sign this petition and help Stray Kids be wholly and authentically themselves.
