Many students enjoy skateboarding during their free time, like recesses, lunch, free periods, off days and after an exam to cool off. Unfortunately, these kids cannot do so unless they live close enough to walk or their parents can drive them every morning. That's not a plausible solution to the problem for many students. Some buses are hour long bus rides or more, making walking hard and gas prices crazy for parents. 

While yes, it may seem like a non-issue to many people, it's unfair that hockey kids can bring their huge bags with their skates and sticks that take up a whole seat or baseball kids can carry around their bat in the bus even when it isn't baseball season, yet skateboarders can't being their board (Which would easily fit on their lap, behind them attached to their bag or in their hands in front of them!) It's not fair to those who practice skateboarding as a sport versus everyone else at school who can bring their sorts equipment with them. If skaters have the proper straps to carry their board, it should be allowed just as hockey players can have their skates if the blades are covered. 

Skateboards are a small, easily transportable device to use that is both eco friendly and speeds you up when going down the street, since obviously you can't bring a bike on the bus. On top of that, it's a fun sport that many kids enjoy, therefore getting kids active and having fun at the same time which should be ideal in a society where currently kids just sit around on their phones. I believe if it's small enough to be transported on a bus while still leaving room for another student next to you, it should be allowed, since hockey bags do NOT udually allow for another student, yet are perfectly fine to bring.
