The Issue

We, the undersigned residents, racers, families, and community supporters, respectfully request approval for Saturday evening racetrack operations from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM within the City of Portland without a decibel (noise) limit restriction.

Purpose of This Petition
Local racetracks serve as safe, controlled environments for motorsports enthusiasts, families, and youth. Limiting or restricting access forces participants onto public streets, increasing safety risks and straining law enforcement resources. Allowing structured evening access promotes safety, community engagement, and economic activity.

Why This Matters:

Public Safety: Racetracks provide a controlled, supervised space that reduces illegal street racing and dangerous driving.

Community & Youth Engagement: Motorsports programs offer positive outlets for young people, teaching discipline, mechanics, teamwork, and responsibility.

Economic Benefit: Events support local businesses, vendors, food trucks, and tourism.

Reasonable Timing: Saturday evenings from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM balance community needs while minimizing disruption.

No Decibel Limit: Racetracks are purpose-built facilities. Enforcing decibel limits undermines their function and discourages participation while offering minimal community benefit.

Our Request:

We respectfully ask the City of Portland to

Approve Saturday racetrack access from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Remove decibel (noise) limit restrictions during these approved hours

Allow racetracks to operate as intended within designated motorsports facilities
We believe this solution supports safety, strengthens the community, and creates positive alternatives for residents while maintaining reasonable boundaries.

Thank you for your time, consideration, and commitment to public safety and community engagement. We look forward to working collaboratively toward a solution that benefits everyone
