Allow retailers with significant grocery options to sell beer in Connecticut.
Allow retailers with significant grocery options to sell beer in Connecticut.
The Issue
Large retailers-- like Target and Wal-Mart-- currently function as grocery stores for families across Connecticut. But, when it comes to selling beer, they are treated differently than other grocery stores under state law.
The Connecticut Legislature's General Law Committee is considering legislation to change this: Senate Bill 647 would change the law to include stores like these to be defined as grocery stores and would let them start selling beer.
In 39 other states, large retailers are already selling adult beverages. It's time for Connecticut to modernize its alcohol laws and to make this change.
Please sign the petition to ask the Committee to support this effort.
