It's fair to say that many people include honey production in their initial plans while contemplating beekeeping. Why not, right? They do the work, and we reap the sweet reward! But that isn't always what motivates one to enter into this field. Some do it for conservation, some for serving their community, and others just bask in another set of living things doing what they do! We set out as a means to serve the community and ourselves by providing pollinators, while fulfilling a love our youngest has for bees and my wife's love of nature! Sure, honey is a part of it, but we actually planned to give it away! We don't need the money, and the health and backyard agricultural benefits were more than enough to compensate us on our investment!
