I am the proud owner of Butter Bakes, a local organic sourdough microbakery designed to bring fresh, affordable food to the vibrant community of Royal Palm Beach. Our bakery operates through a unique honor-system model, enabling residents to pick up wholesome, delicious baked goods right from my porch at their convenience. By choosing only the finest organic ingredients sourced locally, I aim to make quality food accessible to everyone in our community, strengthening bonds and fostering a shared sense of connection.

However, the existing regulations within the village limit my operation along with multiple other bakers, preventing  us from fully realizing this vision of community-supported baking. These restrictions disproportionally impact small, home-operated businesses like mine, suppressing innovation and making it challenging to offer locally-produced foods easily. This is why I'm reaching out to the village authorities with a request to amend these regulations, allowing porch bakery pickups to better serve and enrich our neighborhood.

The benefits of allowing porch bakery pickup are multifold. For one, it promotes local entrepreneurship and innovation, providing an economic boost to both individual business owners and the village itself. It also helps reduce food miles, which lowers the community’s carbon footprint, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally-conscious Royal Palm Beach.

Moreover, with a simple and efficient model in place, porch pickups can be conducted safely and responsibly, adhering to both health and safety standards. Many communities across the country have successfully implemented similar models, leading to thriving local food networks that bolster a sense of togetherness and community spirit.
