Allow New Multi-use Trails to be Built at Fumee Lake Natural Area.

Allow New Multi-use Trails to be Built at Fumee Lake Natural Area.
The Issue
The Dickinson Trail Network would like to build new multi-use non-motorized trails at Fumee Lake Natural Area that would be open to walking, hiking, and mountain biking.
The approximately 4 miles of downhill trails would be built in a conservative manner that would be sustainable, erosion resistant, and minimize the ecological impact on flora and fauna.
The goal is to provide safe access to more parts of the Natural Area for wildlife, plant, and trail enthusiasts to enjoy. Currently, these areas are difficult to explore due to steep hillsides and numerous fallen trees.
The proposed singletrack trails would have a trail tread 24" wide with an overall corridor of 48" or less (12" clearance on either side of trail). No live trees would be cut down. Fallen trees would only have a small section cut out and set aside. Vegetation removed for the trail tread would be replanted along the sides of the trail.
We believe that with your support the Fumee Lake Natural Area can be preserved while enhancing access for the public to enjoy its beauty.
