Allow Round Rock ISD students to host memorials on school property

The Issue

When we lose a student. We aren’t allowed to put up a memorial to them. This has to change, because many people who are saddened by the loss don’t get to go to the funeral to say goodbye. It would be best to say our goodbyes by putting up a memorial. I ask for RRISD’s students help in changing the rule. Right now the rule is we can’t have any memorials to the loss of our peers. This is highly disrespectful, students should be given the right to mourn. We would like to change the rule of not using the school grounds if it is for no school purposes unless authorized to have an exception for student-made memorials, etc. due to this policy, it caused many staff to act out in unacceptable ways towards grieving students and one student even being pushed by an upper staff. Just because something is against the policy, does not mean students should be treated unfairly and suddenly have their condolences taken away without prior notice.
