The Issue

The Keene State College Safety Program needs your help!

The Safety Program at Keene State College is indispensable in training the next generation of safety professionals, who are crucial for maintaining safe working environments in the general industry and construction sectors. As one of the best safety programs in the region, it has consistently produced highly skilled graduates who are in high demand. These sectors are fraught with potential hazards and rely on highly skilled safety experts to prevent accidents, manage risks, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. The program's graduates play a pivotal role in reducing workplace accidents, injuries, and fatalities, which in turn minimizes economic losses and enhances overall productivity.

However, the current staffing challenges, exacerbated by restrictive union and NH state university system rules, regulations, and pay scales, threaten the program's sustainability. If we cannot attract and retain top-tier educators by offering competitive salaries, the quality of training will decline, and the pipeline of qualified safety professionals will dwindle or fizzle out completely.  This shortage could lead to increased workplace accidents, putting countless lives at risk and resulting in significant financial and legal repercussions for businesses.

Therefore, it is imperative that we address these staffing issues by allowing the Safety Program to offer salaries that reflect the critical importance of their work. By doing so, we can ensure that Keene State College continues to produce highly trained safety professionals who uphold the highest safety standards, ultimately protecting workers and supporting the vitality of our industries.
