The Issue

We, the music fans and supporters of artistic freedom in the Netherlands, observe with concern the motion supported by the House of Representatives to deny the American artist Kanye West (Ye) entry to the Netherlands for his upcoming concerts at the GelreDome.

We observe that:

• Art and music should be judged independently of an artist's personal or political statements;

• Thousands of fans have already made significant financial investments in tickets, travel, and accommodation;

• There is currently no evidence that these specific musical performances pose a direct threat to public order or national safety;

• Denying entry to an artist based on past speech sets a worrying precedent for freedom of expression and cultural exchange in the Netherlands.

Our Request:

We urge the Minister of Justice and the House of Representatives to uphold the principles of the law and not obstruct these scheduled concerts. We ask the government to allow the organizers to proceed with the event in a safe and professional manner, ensuring that fans are not penalized for political reasons and are given the opportunity to see the artist perform.
