Allow Electronic Collars Instead of Physical Leashes on wildlife preserve Properties

The Issue

The current leash law in our state reserve properties fails to accommodate individuals with  physical disability, such as arthritis,  back or  knee issues This is creating an unfair barrier for us to enjoy a simple joy of dog walking in these beautiful public spaces. This law only allows physical leashes and electronic collars for hunters.

It's time to modify the current leash law to include the use of electronic collars for dog walking, not just for hunting activities. This change not only provides an alternative to citizens like me, who are prevented from utilizing a physical leash due to physical conditions, but also caters to a wider range of personal circumstances and preferences.

Statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicate that nearly 23% of adults in the U.S suffer from arthritis, and about 25 million suffer from some form of back limitation. That's an enormous portion of the population that may benefit from this amendment.

We urge the responsible state bodies to take our concerns into consideration and implement this change in the leash law on state reserve properties. Please consider signing this petition to help remove this unnecessary barrier and ensure everyone, regardless of their physical condition, can enjoy the simple pleasure of a dog walk.
