Allow Dual Enrollment Students Early Dismissal
Allow Dual Enrollment Students Early Dismissal
The Issue
Dual enrollment classes are difficult classes to take, especially in loud settings such as our dual enrollment pods. These classes are not instructed by teachers at our school, thus I see no reason for us to remain at school for those periods.
Many students like myself thrive in quieter environments that allow us to focus better on the challenging curriculum that dual enrollment offers. The current system, which restricts our ability to leave campus during our dual enrollment periods, does not take this need into consideration. It's crucial for our academic success to have an environment that supports our learning.
By allowing dual enrollment students the option to leave early during 5th and 6th periods, we can utilize our time more effectively, either by going home to study or accessing other resources that aren't available at school (such as public libraries). This flexibility is not only beneficial academically, but it also respects the autonomous nature of dual enrollment programs, which often emphasize college-level responsibility and self-management.
The emotional and mental health of students is also of utmost importance. Allowing students to manage their own time and environment can significantly reduce stress, increase productivity, and create a healthier school-life balance.
Support this change to recognize the needs of dual enrollment students and foster an educational system that caters to diverse learning styles and requirements. Sign this petition to advocate for early dismissal options for all dual enrollment students during 5th and 6th periods.
