The Issue

We are calling for a change in the law to allow victims of Domestic Abuse to speak out about their experiences in the family court, without fear of being held in contempt of court.

It is critical that survivors can share their stories. The family court is often manipulated by perpetrators as a mechanism to continue domestic abuse and coercive control in the form of post-separation abuse. This form of abuse is. Called Post Separation abuse which is a crime, and should be given equal attention and airtime as domestic abuse and coercive control.

In order to truly address this issue, victims must be able to discuss it openly and expose the injustices of system-generated abuse within the statutory systems and the court. They should be able to do so without fear of persecution or prosecution.

We urge you to sign this petition. It is essential for raising awareness, preparing and empowering victims so they can cope with family court proceedings. Being able to speak out also aids victims in their healing journey.

We have the right to voice our experiences of post-separation abuse and family court proceedings as part of our fight for justice. It is a matter of public protection for Victims of DA and their children. It is the only way victims going into the family court can equip and protect themselves and their children.

Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.
